T’s uncle bought him a My Pal Scout for his first birthday. S and I fell in love with him pretty much instantly! We don’t find him annoying 5 months down the line either. He’s a cute cuddly puppy with a child’s voice with an English accent. You can personalise him using your smartphone so that he says your child’s name and their favourite food, colour and animal.
T loves playing all the different songs and will often skip through them to his favourites (‘incy wincy spider’ and ‘if you’re happy and you know it clap your paws’). He dances along to the songs and does the actions too. He also loves to listen to the different animal sounds and finds it so funny. The cutest thing is when he gives Scout a cuddle when Scout says he’s feeling sad and can he have a hug please.
It can also play 5, 10, or 15 minutes of bedtime music, but we haven’t used it for that.
This is all very cute and it’s a great toy, but Scout really came into his own when we had to take T on a long car journey recently. T played the music and listened to Scout talking for an hour or so before going off to sleep. When he woke up he played with him again. He kept a 16 month old entertained for the whole 5 hour car journey!! I never imagined that would happen.
He was quiet enough that it wasn’t annoying for us in the front seat- we were aware of the noise but we could talk or listen to the radio without any problems. The only negative was that when we were driving home it got dark and Scout has a flashing blue light on his collar. This wasn’t a problem during the day but S kept seeing a flashing blue light in the rearview mirror at night.
If you’re looking for a 1st birthday present, My Pal Scout is something my toddler, as well as my husband and I, would thoroughly recommend!
*Disclosure: Scout was bought as a present for T and I have received no financial compensation for this review… we just really love it! This post contains affiliate links, however I only recommend products I have tried and loved.
