Our favourite books in November

So, after our 70 favourite books for October, my November post is a little bit of a disappointment with only 3 favourites! We’re still working our way through Thomas and Friends with our train mad little boy, but we’ve managed to read a few others too!

1. I Got a Crocodile

I got a crocodileWe’ve got this book out the library at the moment. It’s a lovely story about the relationship between a little child (the book doesn’t specify if it’s a boy or a girl) and their crocodile: ‘I always wanted a brother or sister… but instead I got a crocodile. It was quite a surprise!’ It’s perfect for T’s age (19 months) because there are lovely bright illustrations and not too many words on each page. One reason I love to read it to T is because at one point they fall out and little child tells the crocodile to go away, so I read (in a very sad voice) ‘you… said… gulp… go… away… sniff!’ which always gets me a cuddle from T!

2. Stick Man

Stick ManWe’re big fans of Julia Donaldson in our house. My favourite at the moment is Stick Man. It’s such a lovely story about Stick Man trying to get home to his family tree. I love how it shows the passage of time through the seasons and the importance of home and family. I was rooting (haha!) for Stick Man the whole way through. I’m also really excited that it’s being adapted for TV and will be shown on the BBC over Christmas- definitely one to look out for.

3. Daddy is My Hero

Daddy is my heroI bought this for S ‘from bump’ the Christmas that I was pregnant with T. This is a great book about how Daddy looks after his little boy by bathing him, cooking for him etc, but also about all the adventures that they go on such as rescuing him from pirates and flying into space. A fab present for Daddies who are heroes.

So these are mine and T’s favourite books this month. What have you been reading with your children this month?
