My week at a glance #1

I’ve seen this on a few other blogs and enjoy reading them. It seems like a great way for my blog to act as an online journal of our lives together, which was the main reason I started blogging.

Week at a glance #11. We’ve loved having this one around. 2. Trying to overcome his dentist fear. 3. Empty soft play. 4. Playing with the toy trucks. 5. In his element sat on a tractor. 6. Not bad for a first attempt at a bouncy castle. 7. I love my signpost. 8. Practising photography on one of my favourite subjects: tiny toes. 9. A rubbish end to the week.

This week S and I have both had the week off work. It’s been great having S around and I’ve loved not having to go to work too! Overall it’s been a somewhat mixed week, starting and ending badly but with some great days in the middle.

The week started with a trip to the dentist for me and T. He’s been once before and was fine but this time he completely freaked out. He wouldn’t let the dentist look in his mouth and screamed the whole way through my check up. As I left I booked our next appointment for 6 month’s time. I’ve bought him a toy dentist set and ordered a book about going to the dentist, hopefully playing with these for the next 6 months will make the next appointment less of an ordeal.

We went to soft play and to Four Kingdoms Adventure Farm, both of which were empty as it was mid-week term time. T loved playing with the toy trucks at soft play and barely went on the equipment! He was so excited to see tractors at the adventure farm which has helped his speech develop this week too, although I did manage to coax him away from the tractor and on to a bouncy castle at one point.

I’ve really enjoyed making the most of the last few days of summer, we had a great time on Saturday going for a walk in a nature reserve (look out for a blog post about this later in the week). T was being really cute and cuddling trees and wooden signposts! As much as I’ve enjoyed summer, I do love autumn- it’s my favourite season, although I hate the influx of massive spiders we seem to get at this time of year. It’s already begun and I was very brave and caught a beast under a glass when S was out on Friday evening!

Sunday was a bad end to the week when S and I had a massive argument first thing in the morning. It really put a downer on the whole day for me, making for a crappy end to the week.

Blog-wise, I’ve written my most popular post ever about things I would tell my pregnant self about breastfeeding. I’ve really struggled with photography this week (if you fancy a laugh, check out my key lime pie recipe for examples of how not to photograph food!); I seriously need to up my game and try to get some half decent pictures. I’ve also been much more active in promoting my blog and trying to drive traffic, mainly through the promote your blog Facebook group (which is fab!), and I’ve been amazed to see a huge improvement in my stats!

Your son has the cutest little feet! My bub is around the same age but has very big feet for her age, I miss them being little!
Also spiders are the absolute worst! But I suppose there are negatives as well as positives to every season. Looking forward to next weeks recap 🙂

If it helps you feel any better, I took Dylan to the dentist last week. At 3 1/2 it was what I would describe as our first successful visit. He sat patiently and did everything he was supposed to. Prior to that he simply refused to open his mouth! So it took us a while to get there.
Thanks for the info about Promote My Blog – have just joined x

Oh no! I really hope I don’t have another 2 years of trips like this!

It’s a great group, I tried another one but I had to RT 65 tweets for one thread! This one is smaller but really friendly x

You’ve had a busy week! Sorry to hear about the dentist – just keep making it sound positive and I am sure next one will be fine 🙂 Not easy though! I like Autumn too and am looking forward to the next few months ahead xx

Oh wow I really love your honestly here. (I couldn’t help but peek at the post about the argument you had!) Aren’t arguments often just the silliest things ever? My husband and I have learnt to substitute actual words for simple ‘looks’. The kind of look which can go under the children’s radar but which really mean ‘Hey later on, when the kids are in bed, you’re in HUGE trouble!’ ha ha, Lovely post and lovely photos (I’ve got a thing for tiny toes too) Anna x

Thank you! It really was such a stupid argument, but had such a huge impact on T. Will have to work on my ‘look’ to give to S, haha! Tiny toes are the best x

I tried to take the pictures with the light on as it was so miserable outside so they were never going to turn out great! I don’t think I can entirely blame the weather though, my photography skills leave a lot to be desired! x

You’re so right, I look forward to our time off together but inevitably it causes tension and we end up fighting. We just need to spend less time together and then we’ll get on great! Sorry to hear your little one hates the dentist too.

I love this, I used to do a week in pictures post and then stopped. I really must start doing it again as you said it’s all about documenting this time with the little ones and this a perfect way to do it. I see you also love taking pictures of toes! I hate feet but love baby feet. Xx

I’d read loads of these which is what inspired me to write my own. If I can manage to do it every week I think it will be something great to look back on. Thank you, I hope you’re having a good week too 🙂

Aww, bless him. It’s horrible seeing them so scared. I’m hoping that if I he sees me getting a check up he’ll realise that it’s nothing to be scared of.

We always seem to argue in the morning, so it always overshadows the rest of the day. Thanks, I couldn’t believe how many people read it (although it would have been nothing special compared to other people’s blogs).

I DonÕt Have a Best Friend….As a child, I’ve always had a best friend. In grade school, it was Clarissa – our best friendship was so exclusive that our teachers expressed concern that we were alienating the other kids….

Thank you. I’ve had so many nice comments about our fight, it makes me realise we’re not terrible parents for fighting in front of our son, just human.

You’re right, I think it will be lovely to look back on things like this- a way to stop me from forgetting all the precious moments. I’ve loved discovering places to play- sometimes I think I have more fun than T!

Isn’t it wonderful the bond between parent and child and a wonderful way of capturing how much they mean to you! Sorry to hear that the end of your week wasn’t too hopefully things will look up for you soon.

Glad to hear it;s not just us that argue whenever we have time off together! I’m not sure if I’m being a bit over-ambitious by trying to do a weekly update, maybe monthly would be better!

You’ve reminded me I must make dentist appointments! Lovely post. I haven’t done one of these weekly round ups for a while, but must make sure I do as they’re lovely to look back on.
