Little T at 17 months

You’ve finally started talking, hooray! You have six words now: ‘Dada’ for Daddy, ‘wowowow’ for when you’re excited, ‘bop’ for when I do up your poppers or the toaster pops up, ‘ba’ for bang, ‘bum’ for bump and ‘bajammo’ as an explosion noise! Such a boy!! You haven’t quite mastered ‘Mama’ yet, but hopefully it won’t be too much longer.

You babble away in baby language and we have proper little conversations too. I’m not worried about your lack of speech any more.

You love hiding behind doors and jumping out at people making a ‘Raaar’ noise. My little tiger. The cutest misunderstanding you have at the moment is when someone talks about having a lie in and you roar at them as you think they’re talking about a lion!

You love Thomas and Friends and Mr Tumble. You dance along to the theme tunes and always ‘take your finger and touch your nose.’

You’ve been having little tantrums for a while but they’re getting more dramatic now, I didn’t know it was possible to get so angry about a breadstick! You snapped it in half and threw it across the room (although you did eat it later once you’d calmed down).

You constantly amaze me with your understanding and memory, like the time when you showed me how to use the washing machine. You can put a couple of shapes into the shape sorter without help now.

We’ve seen for a while that you know how to do a wee on demand, but you now ask to go on the toilet sometimes. You’ve even done your first poo on the toilet now too, whoop! This has really taken me by surprise as I didn’t think I’d need to think about potty training for another year or so.

One of the things that you find funniest at the moment is the sound of your farts. You do one which makes you chuckle then you spend ages trying to force more out! We really shouldn’t encourage you, but my god it’s funny!

Me and Mine August 2015-a

You’ve got your 4th molar through, but I can see another two little teeth coming now. It’s relentless, this teething, although these ones don’t seem to be bothering you as much as previous ones.

We’re looking forward to what the next month will bring!

All my love,

Mummy xx

Oh wow well done that he is going to the toilet to his poo!! That is fantastic! I’m also thinking to start early with my daughter. I hope se also understand it and manage to go!! It would be amazing to stop using nappies that early!! LOL Let’s see how it goes. Your boy is doing so well!! Isn’t it amazing when they start talking? I love that part!! Thanks for sharing, xx

Thanks for your comment! He’s not anywhere near being out of nappies, but I was encouraging him to do a wee before his bath in his nappy and I thought, ‘this is silly, why doesn’t he do it on the toilet?!’ I think the poo was probably just good timing, haha! I’m so loving him talking, it’s so amazing to be able to start having conversations with him x

It’s quite hard not to laugh at his tantrums sometimes, they’re just so ridiculous! Thanks for hosting, I’m looking forward to linking up his 18 month update 🙂

What a clever little boy you’ve got! I’m so glad I read this as it’s lovely to see how other children are growing and developing that are slightly older than my little boy.

Rowan is 15 months so with your little one being 17 months it’s nice to see what we’ve got to come.

I must read some of your earlier updates especially the bits about speech as my little boy really doesn’t say any words. He makes lots of different sounds and whatnot and I’ve been a little worried about his speech. Sounds like Little T is coming on leaps and bounds.

Wow to the poo he did on the toilet, that’s truly amazing. Hopefully you’ll get potty training out of the way relatively early on

Thanks for your comment! I like to read about slightly older children too, it’s great to know what’s around the corner!

It sounds like Rowan’s speech is just like T’s. He was making loads of sounds at 15 months but no actual words. People kept telling me not to worry, but it didn’t stop me, I only felt better once he actually started saying some words! His speech is developing so quickly now, he’s constantly amazing me.

I was so impressed with his poo, but I think it was more luck than anything else- I’m sure it’ll still be a long time until he’s potty trained. Xx
